Glass Replacement After Board‑Up or Temporary Cover

Temporary protection keeps the property safe, but it is not the finished repair. BoardUp measures the window, door or storefront, confirms the correct glass and installs the replacement across Toronto and the GTA.

Already secured? The next step is new glass.

If the damaged area is already covered or boarded, the immediate risk is under control. The remaining job is to install the correct window, storefront or door glass.

BoardUp handles the measurements, glass specification and installation.

We confirm the glass and frame before installation

Storefront glass, door glass, home windows and patio doors use different glass and glazing methods. We check the frame, glazing stops, hardware, door operation and glass type before ordering or installing anything.

  • Storefront glass replacement after board-up
  • Commercial entrance glass replacement
  • Door glass replacement after temporary securing
  • Residential window glass replacement after temporary cover
  • Patio or sliding door glass replacement
  • Sidelite, transom or entrance glass inspection

What can affect the replacement

Some glass can be installed directly. Tempered, laminated, insulated or oversized panels may need to be ordered. Frame damage or door alignment may also need repair before the new panel goes in.

Repair sequence

From temporary protection to finished glass.

The board-up or protective cover stays in place until the correct glass is ready. We remove it when we install the new panel.

What we check before the final glass goes in

The replacement has to fit the actual opening, not just the visible broken pane. We check the opening size, glass type, frame condition, door swing, lock or closer issues and whether the surrounding system was damaged during the original incident.

  • Opening measurements and edge condition
  • Tempered, laminated or insulated glass requirements
  • Frame, glazing stop and seal condition
  • Door operation, closer, latch or lock interference
  • Weather exposure until replacement is complete

A finished repair after the emergency

We keep the property protected until the correct glass is ready, then remove the temporary cover and complete the installation.

What affects final glass replacement cost

Opening size, glass type and thickness, insulated-unit configuration, frame and glazing-channel condition, floor and access, temporary-cover removal and special-order requirements affect the quote. Final measurements confirm the correct replacement. We provide the total price before work begins, and no additional charge is added without customer approval.

If an insurance file is already open

Keep the original damage photos and the emergency-securing invoice. BoardUp can provide job photos and an itemized invoice for the final glass work. Your insurer or adjuster decides coverage, deductible and required claim documents.
