Door Jamb and Strike Area Repaired in Toronto

A Toronto entry-door jamb was split around the latch and deadbolt strike areas. BoardUp rebuilt and reinforced the damaged section so the door could close and secure again.

Project details

The door slab was usable, but the damaged jamb could not hold the locks.

The strike side of the frame had broken away around the latch and deadbolt. Repairing the jamb preserved the existing door while restoring the closing and locking points.

Project questions

Door jamb and strike-area questions

These are common questions when the damage looks similar.

Can a damaged jamb be repaired without replacing the full door?

Often, yes. When the door slab is still usable, the repair can focus on the jamb, strike pockets and frame attachment.

What is the damaged area around the lock called?

The vertical frame member is the door jamb. The latch and deadbolt engage with strike plates mounted in the strike-side jamb.

Do you test the locks after the frame repair?

Yes. Closing, latching and locking are checked after the repaired strike areas are aligned.
