The door slab was usable, but the damaged jamb could not hold the locks.
The strike side of the frame had broken away around the latch and deadbolt. Repairing the jamb preserved the existing door while restoring the closing and locking points.

The repair
The jamb and strike areas were restored and reinforced around the locking points. The entry door could close, latch and lock against a stable jamb again.

Can a damaged jamb be repaired without replacing the full door?
Often, yes. When the door slab is still usable, the repair can focus on the jamb, strike pockets and frame attachment.
What is the damaged area around the lock called?
The vertical frame member is the door jamb. The latch and deadbolt engage with strike plates mounted in the strike-side jamb.
Do you test the locks after the frame repair?
Yes. Closing, latching and locking are checked after the repaired strike areas are aligned.
